Nikki Tyler (born December 4, 1972 in Berkeley, California) is an American porn star best known for her work in the 1990s.

Early life

Tyler was born and raised in San Fransisco Bay area by a Dentist father and a housewife mother. Raised in a financially well off household, Tyler starred in numerous musical stage performances while attending San Rafael High School. Later, she went to university of California Santa Barbara, aspiring to become a clinical psychologist. During her time in college, in order to help finance her tuition, Tyler would appear in nude photo shoots. She graced over 100 top men's magazines, becoming Penthouse magazine's Pet of the Month in December 1995. Tyler' s work with magazine would later become a stepping stone to her success in adult industry. Following her success with posing for magazines, Tyler dropped out of college and instead attended makeup school to become a professional make up artist.

Adult film career

Tyler's first dip in to porn industry came with her profession as a make up artist, when she was employed as a makeup artist for Vivid Entertainment. During her time at vivid as a make up artist, Tyler did make up work for porn stars like Racquel Darrian, Janine, and Christy Canyon, all of whom were by then already well established stars. According to her 2001 interview, Tyler claims it was during this time when she became interested in working in adult biz, but that she never thought she'll make it as a vivid girl as she thought she wasn't pretty enough.

Softcore career

Nevertheless, Tyler began her career as a vivid girl, starting with soft core and girl/girl scenes only for the first year and a half in the industry. Her first on-screen girl/girl scene was in American Pie (1995). This was followed by a scene with her real-life long term off-screen lesbian lover/roommate at the time, Jenna Jameson, in VR69 (1995). Her close but rocky relationship with Jameson was mentioned by Jameson in her autobiography as well as by Tyler in her 2001 interview with AdultDVDEmpire. The two were together off and on for several years, and reportedly remain close friends to this day.

Vivid contract years

With her rising popularity and success, it wasn't long before Hirsh, Vivid CEO, convinced Tyler to become a full Vivid contract girl, officially launching Nikki Tyler's career as a porn star. During this period, in order to improve her popularity, Tyler obtained breast implants. With her Buxom 90's figure and enthusiasm on screen, Tyler quickly made a name for her self in the industry, becoming especially well known for her on screen blowjobs. She also began to work with male porn stars such as Rocco Siffredi in Nikki Loves Rocco (1996), and Bobby Vitale, whom she has had intimate relationship off screen; nature of this relationship is documented on her 2001 interview, where Tyler mentions that she and Bobby pretended to be husband and wife for a period of time. She also performed her first Anal/creampie scene with Bobbie on virtual sex with Nikki Tyler by Digital Playground.

After her film 'Bobby Sox' won the movie of the year in 1996, Nikki Tyler left Vivid. Many conflicting account has been reported in regards to her departure from Vivid; one source have reported that Tyler was fired from Vivid for breach of contract, while Tyler her self claims in her 2001 interview that the ending of contract with vivid was her decision as she felt it was simply her time to 'move on'. Some source have even went as far as reporting that Tyler retired from the porn industry around this time, report that Tyler denied in 2002 interview.

After leaving Vivid, Tyler went on to sign a contract with Metro. During her time in Metro, Tyler's most notable work includes starring in 'Amazing sex talk', widely acclaimed artistic film which went on to spawn two sequels, and 'Hell on Heels', where she once again collaborated with Jenna Jameson. Both 'Amazing sex Talk' series as well as 'Hell on Heels' were well received by both critics and fans alike.

After releasing 'Amazing sex talk 3' and 'Hell on Heels', Nikki has vanished from the Adult film scenes. While her website is still active, it has not been updated since 2004 and now points to Jack's Playground. According to Jenna Jameson's autobiography, Nikki currently lives in California with her husband and young daughter.

Legacy

During her career as a porn star, Tyler came to be well known for her Boxum figure and her ability to deliver enthusiastic blow job, which were visible in her performances. Tyler's biggest feature during her time with Metro was the 'Amazing sex talk'. Featuring Tyler in the role of an interviewer/show host interviewing various pornstars, providing commentary, and introducing each of the sex scenes, the movie was essentially created as a compilation of series of sex scenes constructed based on specific theme, where each scenes were produced by different directors. The movie's overall artsy tone and its music video like format were acclaimed by many critics at the time. However, what really made the scenes memorable was Tyler's performance with Peter North. In the segment called 'Industrious', where North poses as a welder while Tyler posing as a wealthy debutant, Tyler is featured receiving North's signature high volume ejaculation in the form of facial, lasting up to four-five streaks in this particular scene, without holding North's penis, the performance that spotlighted North's stamina as well as Tyler's enthusiastic blowjob. The scene has since went on to become Tyler's most acclaimed and memorable work not only during her time with Metro, but her career overall.
